Annuities in 401(k) Plans - Reaction, Risks and Benefits

What were the lessons DC plan structural considerations  learned from 2008 and the interest rate environment in 2009?  Target year funds did not meet expectations and sponsors and regulators are looking at the ways to  provide volatility proof annuity income.  The consensus is that current annuity products have credit and rate considerations that make them less attractive as a long term commitment for plan sponsors to include in their plan.

In this session we will review alternative product structures , including their potential fit within target year structures, identify selection criteria for sponsors who want to consider annuities for their 401(k)plan and discuss some risk survey characteristics that allow you to assess whether your population has the demographic structure to benefit from annuity features..
