Mass Career Customization: Career-Life Fit

The traditional, one-size-fits-all model of career progression typified by the corporate ladder no longer fits a workforce that is struggling to fit life into work and work into life.  While the ladder has been the enduring gold standard for professional success, employers need to recognize a fundamental shift in the needs of the corporate workforce.  Today, career journeys are disproportionately nonlinear and a “corporate lattice” model of career progression allows for multiple paths upward taking into account the diverse needs of both the individual and the organization across various intervals of time.

This session will bring Deloitte’s lattice to life with an overview of the Mass Career Customization (MCC) approach to career planning, a new approach that reflects the reality of today’s workforce and focuses on options, choices, and trade-offs to deliver career flexibility for our employees.  We will explore how this impacts learning, talent, and HR operations and practices to manage this model with supports spanning a variety of employee styles, needs, and generational preferences.

      - At Deloitte, the corporate lattice is redefining how careers are built and talent is
  developed.
- MCC
has already been rolled out to 35,000 of our people; the remainder of our
workforce will be brought into the MCC model this year.
- Our talent development strategy redesign has accounted for MCC requirements
