Acquisition Strategy: A Panel Discussion on
the Challenges and Opportunities In Today's Benefits
Environment
Mergers and
acquisitions (M&A) are one of the most dramatic changes any
business will go through. Effectively managing a benefits
program through M&A activity can improve employee satisfaction,
ease integration issues and produce meaningful savings for the
combined entity. Establishing a road map for the integration
and anticipating potential issues can improve success.
Mercer will
present with a client panel on a recent M&A situation(s) to
explain the ways to manage both internal and external
requirements for a successful integration. Topics discussed
will include:
- Due
diligence
- Recognizing
cultural and program differences between two organizations
-
Implementation and employee communication
- Developing
“measurable” success factors to evaluate

Making Open
Enrollment a Year Round Event- No, Wait, That's a Good
Thing!
Open Enrollment
is too often the only time a company communicates and highlights
its benefits packages. After a blast of details that can add up
to “information overload” for employees who otherwise don’t hear
much about such offerings, too many HR departments switch back
to a reactionary role. In this anecdotal and statistically
fueled discussion, we’ll look at the advantages of ongoing
benefits-related communications, offer recommended (and even
simple!) vehicles and channels and examine the effect of
frequent communications on year-round employee engagement and
participation in subsequent Open Enrollment periods.
