The New Generation of HR:
The Game Changed - Did You?
Charles Dickens opened A Tale of Two Cities with the now famous
line, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."
This theme applies today as we look at our businesses and roles
as HR professionals. The past twelve months have brought great
changes to the business world. But with our country's great
economic crisis has also come great opportunity. Organizations
are learning how to work faster, smarter and more efficiently
than ever before. For Human Resources, the challenge and
opportunity for change has never been greater. With changes
coming to executive compensation regulations, healthcare reform,
and a generation shift in the work place, the time is NOW to
invest in your success. How are you preparing for a new
post-recession world?
Keynote
Speaker
Adam Taliaferro

On a
Saturday in September, with less then two minutes remaining in
the Penn State game against rival Ohio State, Adam Taliaferro
made a routine helmet to helmet tackle that would change the
course of his life. The Voorhees New Jersey native had broken
his neck--the same injury suffered by Christopher Reeves. He lay
motionless on the field. Given only a 3% chance of ever walking
again, Adam had very different ideas and today he not only
walks, but he walks well.
"Adam is our miracle," says legendary Penn State Coach
Joe Paterno. He is the personification of triumph over tragedy,
an inspiration to his teammates, his Penn State family, and
anyone who hears his story.
Prior to his injury, Adam was an NFL prospect if
there ever was one. A cornerback, he was ranked the seventh best
high school player in the nation when he graduated as a National
Honor Society member. Offered scholarships to numerous schools,
Adam chose to play for Penn State and Coach Paterno.
Though, playing football is no longer in Adam's future his
inspirational tale of recovery has been followed in Happy Valley
as well as the nation, leading authors Scott Brown and Sam
Carchidi to chronicle his remarkable story in their 2001 book
Miracle in the Making.
Adam graduated from Penn State, on time, in 2005. In his
remaining time at school, he received the Maxwell Football
Club's Spirit Award and remained a part of the Penn State
football team.
Adam is now an attorney in Philadelphia. Adam has also started
his own foundation named the
Adam Taliaferro
Foundation that provides financial assistance to individuals
affected by spinal cord injuries. Through his foundation, Adam
continues to provide hope for so many people who feel that there
is no reason to hope at all.
